Back in Phnom Penh!

Friend and Family Members!!!

How is everyone doing?!!! We pray that God's grace is abounding in all of your lives!!  As you can see by the ‘exclamation marks’ this is Joel writing!!!!!

Riverside, Phnom Penh
We are alive and well here in SE Asia and are getting back into the swing of things!

Mya was a great little baby on the flight from Vancouver to Hong Kong and then onto Bangkok!! (Our goal was to not be the despised couple with the crying child!! Mission Accomplished!!) She has adapted well the heat here, thank you Jesus, and is ‘talking’ up a storm these days!

We stayed in the home of our good friends, Kris and Tabitha Pagan, in Sriracha, Thailand, and I taught for 2 weeks at my old Bible School, VBCI!! I taught a Pastoral Epistles course to 1st and 2nd year students from all over SE Asia, and was also able to preach  twice on a Sunday at a Thai Pentecostal Church and the Victory International church.  It was a blast!!

Uncle Teddy: Mya's first drum teacher?
On December 2nd we flew from Bangkok to Phnom Penh with a ‘plethora’ of bags, and the next day moved directly into our old apartment building but  a different room.  We’ve been getting settled in, which has included getting vehicles and appliances fixed, and have loved showing our old neighbors and friends our baby girl!
This week Avin is starting language classes with her old teacher and I will be teaching at the Cambodia Bible Institute as well studying Khmai on my own until my old teacher is available.

Bangkok post boxes
We just wanted to ask all of you to purposefully pray that God would begin speaking to people’s hearts in Poipet as we prepare to go there to preach the Gospel, and that we would find a suitable home to live in and operate a ministry out of.   Also please pray that Gods anointing would be on us everyday to be a powerful witness of Jesus love here in Cambodia!!

Enjoy the Christmas Season wherever you are and thanks again for your prayers, which make all the difference and your support! We cannot be out here without your help!! Thanks so much!!!!

Mya and mommy
Blessings,
Joel, Avin and Mya

It's a Girl!!!! Welcome Mya Elizabeth Reimer!!

Hello Friends and Family!!!!

We are so excited to announce the birth of our beauitful little girl, Mya Elizabeth. She is perfect and healthy. After 9 hours of labour and a natural birth, she was born September 15th at 7:56am. She was 6.5lbs and 20.5 inches long (she has her daddy's lean, muscular shape!). We are over the moon in-love with our daughter and have enjoyed our first week as parents. Mya is a great feeder and sleeper, she has been so good to us!
7 days old and her first day attending church
She already has daddy wrapped around her little fingers
Thank you to all who were with us in prayer over this birth, every prayer we lifted to the Lord was abundantly answered!!!!!

Can You Believe it is June Already?!

Friends and Family!

How are you all doing?  Pray you’re all doing great. Life out here continues to be one big adventure!! Here are some high-lights and some low-lights!!
Sparrow's Nest retreat
  • Avin and myself both went to the Sparrows Nest Staff Retreat in the Province of Kep from May 10th-13th.  Avin taught about personality types (She did a great job!) and I shared a few messages and helped out with worship.  It was an incredible break from the craziness of Phnom Penh and God touched peoples hearts, praise God!!
  • May 17th to 19th I went to Khao Yai, Thailand to lead worship at the ECB Men’s Retreat.  The guest speaker was our PAOC Regional Director Peter Macintosh. He spoke about being a ‘Spirit Led Man’.
  • Just the other night a bat got lost and flew into our room as we were getting ready to go to bed! The poor thing couldn’t find the open door so Avin had the blanket over her head and I was flat on the ground as this thing flew around our room.  Eventually I got a broom and hit that thing against the wall and sent him to that bat cave in the sky!
Want a haircut for $0.75? try the temples!
  • Traffic in Phnom Penh continues to be a challenge!! Last week we couldn’t get to home group for probably the 3rd time cause the traffic was totally gridlocked for hours!!!!
Kep Province; National Park
  • Avin is still feeling great and is really having a seamless pregnancy!! Major Bonus!!! The baby is doing well and every time I see motion in there I am delirious!!!! It’s still kind of surreal though, even after buying a crib and a stroller!!!
We are still planning on returning to Canada on July 29th  for a few months to have the baby and to hopefully see many of you!!!

God Bless you and thanks again for all the love,

Joel and Avin

Home in Phnom Penh

Friends and Family!

How are you all doing?  Pray you're well!!

Here is a summary of what we've been up to here in South East Asia:
Daily life for a child in Cambodia

-  February 1st we finished teaching at the ‘Impact School of Missions’ (ISM) in Bangkok, Thailand. We had a great time leading worship, going on different outreaches and getting to know the 6 Canadian students.

-  February 4th we were blessed to be driven to the Thai/Cambodian border by Pastor Al Purvis. We had a great time catching up with him.

-  We survived a pretty major truck crash on the National Highway as Avin and I drove towards Phnom Penh in our truck. We praise God that besides sore necks, sore backs and Avin's 4 broken toes, we escaped unharmed!  As of today we are almost 100%!  God is Good!!  Now we’re on the look out for a new truck!!

-  We are now back in Language School learning Khmai 5 days a week.

-  Avin is back helping out at ‘Sparrows Nest’ and is enjoying loving on the street kids there.

-  I just found out that I will be teaching about '1st and 2nd Corinthians' at the Cambodia Bible Institute in April.  I can’t wait to teach Cambodia’s future leaders!

-  We are excited to be currently hosting Chad McCarthy, a PAOC Global Worker, and then Maria Gambone DeJesus, a former ISM student, at the end of February. Avin's mom and sister will be visiting us in March.

We would really appreciate your prayers for:

- God to speak clearly to us as we look for our future church planting location
- Safety, as the roads here in Phnom Penh are pretty crazy!
- That God would bless our relationships with our fellow missionaries and neighbors
- That we would be disciplined to study the Khmai language faithfully
- For God's anointing and empowerment when we teach, serve and go about our daily routines

Also please pray for the Church as a whole here in Cambodia, that God would empower it with His Spirit and that Cambodians would have theirs eyes opened to truth.

God bless you guys and thanks again for standing with us and believing with us as we serve and study.
